Empty Jar Overnight Oats

Empty Jar Oats

Do you have empty jars of Nutella, nut butters or jams that you don’t want to throw away because there’s still that little bit left inside stuck to the edges? Now you don’t have to. You can use up whatever is left in your jars and get a great breakfast to go by making a batch of overnight oats inside.

All you have to do is place all your ingredients in the jar, scrape the edges as you mix everything together, secure the lid and give it a good shake. Place the jar in the fridge overnight . In the morning open the jar, scrape the edges a little with a spoon, add in your toppings close the jar, give it a shake and off you go!

There is no exact measurement to share with this recipe since jar sizes vary, but this is usually how I measure it out.

Depending on the size of the jar I add my oats, then double the amount of milk and a quarter of the amount of Greek yogurt and a tablespoon or two of chia seeds. Top with fruits, nuts or seeds of choice.

For example, for a small jar of Nutella:

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1 cup milk of choice (I usually use unsweetened almond or cashew milk)
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt (vanilla or plain)
  • 1 tbsp. chia seeds
  • Topped with bananas and nuts

Give it a try with whatever jars you have, you’re going to love it.
